The pollen filter is the filter responsible for filtering the air that is fed into the vehicle’s heating and air conditioning systems.
It is recommended to replace the filter every 15000km or once a year.
Usually located in the engine compartment or cabin, beneath the windscreen, the pollen filter is a mechanically driven sieve with an electrostatic paper filter (or sometimes an active carbon filter) that attracts dust and plant particles such as pollen, spores and fungus, as well as chemical pollution in the air.
Maintenance schedules for various makes of vehicles differ on how often the air filter should be changed.
If you drive on unpaved roads, it needs to be changed more often. If you don’t drive a lot, an air filter should be replaced at least every 3 years, as with age it becomes brittle. A dirty air filter prevents the necessary volume of clean air from reaching the engine which affects the emission control systems of the car; reducing air flow and causing a too rich air-fuel mixture which can foul the spark plugs. Fouled spark plugs can create an engine miss, rough idle and even starting problems.
The rule of thumb when replacing a fuel filter on an older model car is at least every 2 years or 30,000 kilometers. On newer models, this interval can run longer. The best way to tell if your fuel filter needs replacing is to have the mechanic do a fuel pressure test.
One typical example of a restricted fuel filter is a vehicle that cuts out or loses power driving up an incline, such as a bridge. Under load, fuel demand increases and a clogged fuel filter reduces the needed flow. As the fuel filter gets dirty, the fuel pump works much harder.
The oil filter helps remove contaminants from your car engine’s oil that can accumulate over time as the oil keeps your engine clean. Clean motor oil is important because if the oil were left unfiltered for a period of time, it could become saturated with tiny, hard particles that can wear surfaces in your engine.
Car manufacturers often suggest changing oil filters every other time you have your oil changed. Most parts and oil manufacturers, however, say to replace oil filters with every oil change
Most owner’s manuals for newer vehicles will tell you it’s acceptable to go 10,000 kilometers between oil changes under normal conditions. But you should drop to 5000 kilometers if you drive under severe conditions. Severe driving conditions can take a toll on just about every part of your car — both inside and out.
Eventually, if the oil is not changed, the entire engine will shut down and have to be replaced.
Replaced spark plugs can actually make your car run faster and better. A modern combustion engine needs three main things to run: fuel, oxygen and a ignition(spark plugs). Higher quality spark plugs will improve thecombustion of the engine, improving power.
Common signs of faulty spark plugs include slow acceleration, loss of power, poor fuel economy, engine misfires, and difficulty starting the car. … Good spark plugs will burn fuel efficiently, while bad or failing spark plugs can cause the motor not to start at all.
